Milwaukee Baseball Club (MBC): Empowering Youth Through Sports, Education, and Community
In Milwaukee, the disparity in skill levels between city and suburban baseball players has created significant challenges. Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) teams often struggle in WIAA rankings due to a lack of resources, safe facilities, and access to experienced coaching. This environment has led to high turnover among coaches and limited opportunities for players to compete and thrive at a high level.
Key Challenges
1. Cost: Participating in comprehensive baseball programs costs an average of $2,500 annually, with additional expenses for equipment creating financial barriers.
2. Field Conditions: Many city fields are unsafe and poorly maintained, with rental costs for suitable facilities reaching $150 per game.
3. Access Restrictions: WIAA off-season contact rules limit MPS athletes' ability to train year-round, unlike their suburban peers.
4. Coaching Shortages: A lack of experienced coaches and high turnover necessitate competitive compensation to attract and retain quality mentors.
5. Facility Costs: Rental expenses for training facilities range from $15,000 to $25,000 annually, limiting access for inner-city players.
Our Mission
Milwaukee Baseball Club is committed to overcoming these challenges by providing affordable, high-quality resources and opportunities for inner-city youth to succeed on and off the field. We aim to level the playing field by addressing financial barriers, improving access to safe facilities, and offering comprehensive support to players and teams.
